Queued

I’m waiting in line for a Mythbusters panel. One volunteer told me I’d get in. Another said it wasn’t likely. The line is hella long. This is the last gasp of the con for me. I’ve spent too much money and burned up the iPhone’s battery. If I don’t get in, I’ll head home and all will be well.

Pixar's Up

Just watched a preview of Up which comes out next May. Typically it looks quirky and beautiful. But a little strange. Definitely doesn’t fit into the mold of past Pixar films website just went live today: Disney.com/up

Pixar

The Bolt clips looks great. They’re showing tons of clips that aren’t finished. So we’re seeing a mix of finished animation, traditional animation and storyboards. Action packed and the audience is laughing a lot.

Terminator

Common just said that the Terminator is going to be fly and we’re going to love it. Really? I still can’t believe this many people care about the Terminator.

Day 3 update

I got to San Diego a little after 12 and got to the convention center as quickly as possible to try to catch a panel with the writers of The Office. There was to be some Schrute. Unfortunately the comically long line that I waited in was already too long. I didn’t make it in.

I considered some other panel options and decided if I wanted to catch the pixar panel in an hour then I’d better get in line. I waited for the Terminator line to disappear (same room). When I finally got in the line they ushered me in right away. So now I’m sitting in Terminator. Waiting for pixar.

ComicCon day 2

Minus the ridonkulously long drive and plus a pleasant lunch with an old friend, Day 2 at the con was virtually identical to Day 1. Except somehow I spent an ass-load of money.

There haven’t been any panels that I’ve really cared about seeing so I’ve spent all my time on the floor. My chief discovery is that ComicCon is too overwhelming to process in any usual way. There’s an embarassment of riches everywhere. (continue reading…)

The long road to ComicCon

Like many Southern California residents travelling to ComicCon, I spent the majority of the day stuck in traffic on the 5. The handy iPhone app NewsLocal told me a big rig had rolled over near Camp Pendleton and started a brush fire but there was nothing I could do to avoid the backup.

When I finally arrived I had time to get my badge and my swag bag and do a quick reconnoiter of the main hall. I ran into a friend from LA who’d been on the road since 9:30am. Ridiculous. (continue reading…)
