This is what I see especially at the Sol. If the music doesn't have that "California Bounce," people tune out. By bounce I mean stuff that seemed like it was influenced by Sublime, Sugar Ray, etc etc. Love it or hate it, that's what people tune into from my casual observation there. Take the guy who was on immediately after your performance. He kinda did that and it got more of a response, not that it's some contest or anything. That dinner crowd couldn't care less whether anyone had anything interesting to sing about, just as long as there was a bass line or rhythm bounce in the space between conversations with patrons. In fact, I would argue that it's that California Bounce that actually makes or breaks bands in this area. Outside of SoCal, I don't think people care nearly as much about that sound. But here, the evil spectre of Sublime still dominates.

Ha! My daughter would appreciate that correction, as she is a My Little Pony maniac.

Thanks for the link to my site, by the way.

You loved Super 8?
I thought it was total generic JJ bullshit.
So incredibly tired of that recycler hack.

Captain America and Thor were better all around.
Thor actually caught me off guard with good fun.
