While it’s true that I’ve never had a problem with SWFObject embeds, that doesn’t really address the problem I’m describing. Off the top of my head I can’t think of a way to rewrite this hack to use SWFObject to embed a YouTube video since the user doesn’t have access to the .flv file.

Or am I wrong? Can this hack be rewritten to use SWFObject to create a YouTube embed?

What you found is a general Flash problem, not really a YouTube specific problem.

In the future you should look into using SWFObject to embed your Flash content.

That’s a bit weird. I’ve never had trouble with it myself either. If anything, I’d think that IE would need the embed.
