More laughter

Shawn Macomber has been guest-blogging for Jeremy Lott for the past few days. I tuned in today and laughed at pretty much every single item. Whether he’s speculating if John Edwards’s wife’s new book will be priced cheaper in “Other America” or calling Bernie Sanders “a volcano of plain watery oatmeal,” Shawn pulls no punches.

Oh Lord

More on the Borat flap. This should get you started:

“If there is one more item of Uzbek propaganda claiming that we do not drink fermented horse urine, give death penalty for baking bagels, or export over 300 tons of human pubis per year, then we will be left with no alternative but to commence bombardment of their cities with our catapults,” Borat said.

Iron Man

Dammit.

I actually think Robert Downey Jr. is a pretty great actor but he’s one of those guys whose very public private life has gotten in the way of his work. (It’s all too easy now to see him as typecast in Less Than Zero.) I wish the powers that be had gone with an unknown for Iron Man. But whatever. I’m not so much of a fanboy that I’ll see it no matter what. If it sucks, it sucks. But I am happy Jon Favreau is directing. I like the cut of his jib.

Further thoughts

* Gmail keeps serving me an ad with the headline “Beastie Boys Take on KFC.” The text of the ad reads, “The Beasties write a letter urging KFC to stop abusing chickens.” This brings to my mind the flyers that were circulated at a Morrissey concert I attended. The flyers touted “Kentucky Fried Cruelty” in the same bold colors and fonts used by the business they were protesting. All I could think was, “Man, some fried chicken would really hit the spot.”

* The new ADA and Detective on Law & Order: The Original: Yowza!

* The American television show called The Office (allegedly based on the British show of the same name): still bollocks.

* Freddie Millions: back.

Uh

I keep checking my own weblog as if I’m expecting there to be new posts.

I don’t know why MySpace always tells me “An unexpected error has occured.” I completely expect them.

Is anyone else tired of Beyonce? I can’t even work up the energy to call her “Bouncy” any more.

I have such a hard time adjusting to the new television syndication schedules. King of Queens was bumped to midnight. Ouch. Why the hell has Dharma and Greg moved to 9am on FX, where King of the Hill used to be? Who ever watched this show? Why am I watching FX at 9am?

And another thing I can’t get used to… Kristin Priesol being on in the evenings. I mean I feel happy for her but I pretty much have no reason to get out of bed in the mornings.

Moving am I moving yes I’m moving, gooney goo goo

I’m feeling sluggish. It’s the weather. Also, while that last post on LJ offered good character insight, it wasn’t particularly funny. Perhaps next week’s entry will be.

I’m also still sort of reeling from images in the Borat movie. And of course, Barbra Streisand’s tits.

How are you all doing?

Is funny

So I was one of the many geeks who attended the MySpace sneak preview of the Borat movie last night. I still haven’t processed the film. It was a lot to take in. And there are some images I’m trying to delete from my memory. I’ll do my best to figure out a way to review it and I’ll get back to you. Anyway, for those who care, Borat himself appeared at the San Francisco screening.

I wonder how many albums they’ll make

“Supernova” of Rock Star: Supernova lost a court case for their name. They’ll now be known as “Rock Star Supernova.”

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha….

Positive contact

I finished reading The Dharma of Star Wars last week. I enjoyed it and I’ll have more to say about it later.

Monday night, I was at Borders just wandering around. They had a “3 for 2″ sale going on but I couldn’t find 3 books that I wanted. I actually left Borders and then came back to wander some more. I decided that I’d look for Under the Banner of Heaven since I’d heard good things about it. I couldn’t find it in the section where I thought it would be; I turned around to ask an employee; and there it was on another 3 for 2 table. I knew I had been beaten. So I also grabbed Running With Scissors and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time too.

I picked up Under the Banner of Heaven that night and became immediately engrossed. I have since had serious trouble putting it down. Monday and Tuesday night, I read until I could not read anymore and have had to force myself to put it away to get other things done. I have it at my temp job with me and have been trying to read on the elevator. It’s that interesting.
