Devin Dazzle & The Neon Fever

[Capsule review written for Popshot.]

Sometimes we want to listen to some Depeche Mode or Human League, but we’re too lazy to go dig through our records or even to search for some mp3s to find them. Luckily, we’ve stored Devin Dazzle’s disc on our harddrive and we just cue it up. It’s kinda corny 80s synth music from Felix the Housecat and some friends. But it scratches our itch and even creeps us out a bit with the robot voices and stuff.

Nashville’s The Sincerity Guild play carefully-constructed instrumental rock that avoids many post-rock cliches but walks a fine line between imagination and execution. On their debut album for Theory 8 Records, What It’s Like on the Inside, TSG don’t play discordant or intentionally obtuse music.
